- Our Impressions
- We always ask our bellhop for the best local eatery that most tourists don’t know about. Okazuya was recommended on our most recent visit. It’s located in a small shopping center across from the Paki Maui on Lower Honoapiilani road next to a tattoo parlor and a bait and tackle shop. The place is tiny with only a few seats along a slender bar along the left-side wall when you walk in and maybe two tables and chairs outside on the side walk. The menu consists of grilled and deep-fried deliciousness; chicken katsu, grilled Korean chicken, teriyaki steak, coconut shrimp, stir-fried chow fun, pastas, burgers, tofu, meatball sandwiches, a great loco moco, and a variety of grilled and friend fish dishes that change based on the catch. Yeah – this is a ‘local joint’; it has go-to favorites for all tastes and appetites. We had the loco moco and Hawaiian mixed plate (grilled and fried katsu chicken). The portions are heaping, the food was delicious, and the prices were reasonable. If you’re in the mood for a really good greasy heart-stopper, this is your place on the northwest side of the island (similar to Da Kitchen in Kihei).
